Give with confidence. If fraud is confirmed on a campaign you supported, we refund you in full, for up to a year.

Giving to someone you have never met takes trust. The YouFundMe Guarantee is our promise that your generosity is protected. If you donate to a campaign that our trust team confirms was fraudulent, we refund your donation in full, for up to one year from the day you gave.

The guarantee applies to every payment method we support, MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, Visa, Mastercard and bank transfer, and it covers you automatically. There is nothing to sign up for.

What it covers

Donations to a campaign our trust team confirms as fraudulent, where the organizer intentionally misrepresented the cause or the beneficiary. It applies across every supported payment method.

How to claim

You do not need to do anything proactively. If a campaign you supported is confirmed as fraudulent, we contact you by email with refund instructions. You can also reach our trust team any time.

Refund timeline

Once your refund is approved, funds are returned to your original payment method, typically within 5 to 10 business days. Mobile-money refunds usually clear faster than card refunds.

What it does not cover

Campaigns where an organizer raised funds in good faith but could not reach their goal or deliver the intended outcome. The guarantee applies only to confirmed fraud, and only to donations made within the past 12 months.

We stop fraud before it starts

Every organizer passes KYC identity verification, every withdrawal is reviewed by a person before funds are released, and any user can report a campaign. The guarantee is our safety net, not our first line of defence.
