Donations on YouFundMe go to real people and causes, so they are generally final. We make exceptions where something has gone wrong.
When we refund
- The campaign is confirmed as fraudulent or breaks our terms.
- The same donation was charged more than once.
- A payment was taken but the donation could not be recorded.
What is returned
A refund returns the donation amount. The payment processing fee (4%), the tax (3.5%) and any tip are returned where we can recover them from the payment provider. The refund message shows the exact amount before it is sent.
How long it takes
Refunds are sent to the phone number or card that paid. Mobile money refunds usually arrive within a few working days; card refunds depend on your bank. If it has not arrived after ten working days, contact us with your donation reference.
How to ask
Write to support@youfundme.org with your donation reference, the amount, the date and what went wrong. Our trust team reviews every request. Report a suspicious campaign at trust@youfundme.org.
